Baby Cakes...on a stick!

I just wanted to quickly share the latest craze in our house. Cake Pops!!! I was at work the other day when I stumbled upon this crazy cute machine called Baby Cakes. I grabbed it thinking it would be fun to do with the kids. Well I think I've put on about 3 lbs in a week! Seriously. I'm completely addicted to making these, decorating them and mostly, eating them!!! They are sooo rediculously easy to make. I just use a cake mix and pour it in and the machine does the rest! I had to do a bit of experimenting with the coating but I've finally found one that works great! Here are a few pics:

Besides the machine being totally cute and purple, it comes with a bag of sticks, a stand to hold 12 cake pops, a lifter and a recipe book! One pkg of cake mix makes about 5 dozen. I froze half of them and found they are easier to decorate after being thawed. Oh and a great tip is to put your batter into a plastic squeeze bottle....spooning it into the wells was a little messy for me and this works great!
My kids loved decorating them and sharing them with their friends! But eating them is the best part! I think these treats are going to be a hit for Christmas!

I'm so blessed...

To help celebrate the U.S. Thanksgiving this weekend, I thought I'd share with you one of the brand new release images over at By LORi Designs. They are so rediculously cute I can't choose just one as my favourite. This is PJ Jacob and he and the others can be found HERE!

Since I've been a bit limited on supplies lately I've taken to colouring alot of my images on Kraft cardstock which was readily handy during our basement flood fiasco . I'm really liking the results so I'm just rollin' with it! I added the sentiment while in MS Word and printed digi Jacob off from my computer onto some Kraft cardstock. He was coloured with my copics and prismacolor pencils & gamsol. The white pencil crayon really 'pops' on the kraft, I love that effect. There's a close up below. Also, my daughter is getting to the age where she wants to get right into everything I do, so she coloured up her very own Jacob and asked if I would put it on my computer screen like I do with my cards. How could I resist? lol!

I hope you like Puddle Jumper Jacob, you HAVE to see the rest, totally irresistable! So check them out. All four images can be purchased together as a bundle or also individually! I'll be back on Tuesday for our Tuesday Inspiration post!

Before I go, I just wanted to say how Thankful I am for being on this wonderful DT! For the true friends I've made along the way and my family who is always there for me and supports me in everything I do. I'm so blessed. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Baby its cold outside...

It's getting colder and colder here! Waaaaaah! Trying my best to ignore the fact that winter will soon be here. One of the only things that gets me through the cold winter season is my craft room! I do what makes me happy! And every single image over at By LORi Designs does just that! I'm showing you this card again since its also one of my favourites. This card features Winter Ella and she can be found HERE!

I used some 3D Crystal Effects on the penguin to give him that 'wet' and slippery look. I also added some white liquid applique and with a little heat from my 'Ranger heat it' tool it puffed up into perfect little snowflakes! I made this card last year and I still can't even force myself to put it in an envelope and give to someone...there's just some you can't ever part with! And I know I'm not alone out there on that one ;)

Anyway, to see more cute images and adorable samples from the By LORi Designs DT, head over to the Blog and check out the rest!

Have a great day, thanks for stopping by!

Annie's Voodoo Lady:
Here's a close up of the skull with a good coat of Crackle Accents and Stardusts Stickles! I took my inspiration from Annie's original painting and went to work with my copics. When I met her on Krafty Day I told her I would love to try and colour it they way she painted it and she said 'absolutely go for it'!!! Its no match to her gorgeous watercolour original but I was pleased with the way it turned out. I think I may have gone a bit too overboard with the stickles and beads, but its hard working with only paper and markers. I scrounged through my totes and found some Black Diamond and Stardust stickles and some microcut black beads and thought that should do it. I stepped waaaaaay out of my comfort zone for this one. Its hard to do but also a good challenge! I love Voodoo lady, she's so creepy and mysterious, perfect to use for a halloween party invite? She looks like she could be a character from the movie Beetlejuice. Love that flick!

So keep on hoppin' over to Elaine's awesome blog to see how she will wow you with her amazing card!

Don't forget to leave your comments for your chance to win!!!

No card today but how 'bout a canvas....or two...

Hello everyone! I just couldn't resist posting this today. Yesterday my daughter wanted to have a girly girl day. So I suggested colouring or painting or shopping and she chose to paint!!! I was super excited as the night before I attended Linda's mixed media class at The Paper Pickle, so my mojo was still in full gear! I just started doing mixed media back in April/May (I started with Christy Tomlinson's She Art on-line course) and I have to tell you it is F-U-N!!! Not to mention the pure gratification of looking at your art once its done. I've done about 4 canvases, I'll have to post them for you to see. They make great gifts and they're rediculously addictive to make! Anyway, luckily my paints were easy to grab since our basement flooded and all my craft stuff is packed away until we get new carpet! Boooo! But a quick trip to the dollar store and a few new paint brushes and canvases later we were ready to roll!

I started with a plan, because my daughter (who's almost 4) needs some sort of structure at least to start out with or else there would have been paint on the walls....lol! She was a very good student. The only thing I did for her was cut the shapes for the house and the grass, stamp a few things and applied the rub-ons she chose and the rest was all her!

The minute she was done, she asked me for the 'hanger stand thingy' and marched right up to her room and found the perfect spot for her masterpiece. I must say it looks adorable in her room!

My favorite part was when she stopped (mid march) for a minute to ooogle her work. It was sooo cute I had to get a snapshot of it.

Here's her finished canvas. I have to say she looooves those Faber Castell Gelatos! You can see she went to work with the pink and red on her house! Here's my finihsed canvas I will proudly be displaying in my new office!

It was a great day and now we both have something to remind us of our special 'Girly Girl' day!

Tootsie-Pop Pumpkin!!!

Hi everyone! I hope everyone had a Happy Halloween! I don't have a card to share today, about 3 weeks ago our basement flooded and all of my craft stuff has been put into totes until we get new carpet etc...the good thing is that none of my craft stuff was ruined...the bad part is I need all new furinture in my office and I cant do much crafting without a desk. I did manage to save my markers, some stamps and paper from being packed away so I have been able to do some colouring. I'll be way ahead of the game once things are back in order!!!

Anyway so I thought I'd post a little crafty project that my daughter and I did on Halloween day. I saw it on some talk show and we thought we'd give it a whirl. It was super easy and surprisingly fast. All you need is a pumpkin, a whole bunch of suckers and a drill (oh and maybe an extra set of little hands to help assemble!)

I purchased a very large bag of the 'mini' tootsie-pops and used a drillbit a little larger than the stick so they would fit into the pumpkin easily.

I drilled a bunch of holes until my wrist started to buckle (yes, its hard work drilling hundreds of holes into pumpkins, lol, I'm only used to crafty tools)...anyway I scattered them all over the pumpkin and let my daughter fill in all the holes. I repeated this until all the suckers were gone!

It kept her busy for quite a while! And we were both very happy with the finished product! Makes a great centrepiece. We got many comments on the Tootsie-Pop Pumpkin, all the kids thought it was very cool and they liked that they got to choose their own sucker! It think this will be a new Halloween tradition!
Anyway, I'm hoping to get some cards up soon enough. Lucky for some on-line purchases coming in the mail I'll have some new paper to play with...I just might be able to 'McGuyver' a card out of the few things I've scrounged together. Stay tuned!

Have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by!
